about Ellaidhoo Tourist resort

Ellaidhoo is a small coral island with a total land area of 55,625 square metres. The island is 300 metres long and 280 metres wide, and is covered by thick tropical vegetation. The total built up area of the island is only 7,060 square metres (12.7% of the total land area). The magnificent house reef just 20 metres away from the beach surrounding the island, is the hallmark of the Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort.

Ellaidhoo is located on the eastern fringes of North Ari Atoll, about 42 km from Male International Airport and 40 km from Male (the capital island of Maldives). Transfer time between the airport and the resort is 20 minutes by seaplane and 1 hour 30 minutes by speedboat.

Food & Beverage at the Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort

The Food and Beverage outlets on Ellaidhoo offer a variety of local and international dishes.

Main Restaurant: The main restaurant is open at fixed times and serves in buffet breakfasts, lunch and buffet dinner.

Coffee Shop: The coffee shop at the Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort with Internet is open from 9am in the morning until midnight and serves different hot and cold beverages, snacks, and various local and international dishes. Internet service is also available here at set times during the day.

Main Bar: The main bar at the Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort is open throughout the day from seven in the morning until the last guest leaves at night. A variety of exotic cocktails and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available.

Land Sports at the Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort - If you feel like it, you can join their staff for a game of football, volleyball, badminton or table tennis.

Water Sports at the Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort - Ellaidhoo Water Sports Centre is located in Maagaa island (the sister island just 10 minutes boat ride away) and offers wind surfing, catamaran sailing, water skiing, jet skiing, knee boarding, wake boarding, banana riding and fun tube riding.

Diving at the Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort - Ellaidhoo is claimed to have one of the best house reefs of any resort island in the Maldives, just 20 metres away from the beach. Lobsters, turtles, white tip and grey reef sharks, jack fish, barracudas and tuna fish, just to name a few, can be observed among the beautiful multi-coloured soft corals of the house reef. If you are lucky, you may also see manta and eagle rays passing by. To the south of the island there is a vertical drop-off up to 25 metres with caves at three different levels starting from 6 metres. There is also a small wreck providing shelter for all kinds of small and large fish. Tourists from resort islands as far as North Male Atoll visits on diving excursions to see the spectacular house reef of Ellaidhoo.

Half day and full day diving excursions are organised to visit some of the best dive sites in the Maldives such as Fish Head, Maya Thila, Halaveli Wreck (sting ray city II) and Fesdhoo Wreck. Day and night non-limited diving on the house reef is also available for experienced divers.

Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort - excellent accommodation

Excursions from the Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort.

There are nearly 1200 small islands and an abundance of beautiful coral reefs in the Maldives. To give you the opportunity of visiting some of these islands and reefs, we organise weekly excursion programs.

Island Hopping from the Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort: Full day excursion to an uninhabited island and a resort island, with BBQ lunch included.

Visit Hangnameedhoo: Half-day trip to an inhabited island where you can experience the daily life of local people.

Snorkelling Trip: Half-day snorkelling on the house reefs of two resort islands.

Snorkelling Safari: Half-day snorkelling on some of the reefs near the Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort.

Sunset Fishing: Fishing on a boat at a nearby reef at sunset, followed by a BBQ dinner. Likely catches include snappers, jack fish and groupers.

Night Fishing: Fishing on a boat at a nearby reef late in the evening, with a BBQ dinner on the following day. Likely catches include snappers, jack fish and groupers.

Morning Fishing from the Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort: Trolling for fish early in the morning, with BBQ dinner on the same day included. Wahoo, barracuda, sailfish dolphin fish etc. are commonly caught during morning fishing.

Malé Excursion: Full day shopping trip to Malé, the capital island of Maldives.
